Who needs the CZV exam?
Anyone who wants to obtain the certificate of professional competence and acquired the category C/C1 and D/D1 licences after 1 September 2009. Here you can access the registrations for the CZV exam. (To register you must first sign up in the PVS Examination Management System and can then register for the exam.)
Which partial exams do you have to pass?
In addition to the written supplementary exam and the test drive at the road traffic office, the following partial exams must be passed for the licence:

Written theory exam: It takes place at the road traffic office of your canton of residence. Within 60 minutes, 40 questions must be answered correctly on the computer. Unfortunately, the written theory exam is not offered for cross-border commuters in the canton of Geneva.
E-exams: These two exams, like the written theory exam, take place in your canton of residence. You have 45 minutes for each of these exams. A practical situation is simulated, consisting of 5 questions with twice five and three times four answer options, illustrated with images. These must be dragged into the solution fields using drag-and-drop.

Oral and practical exam: These exams are conducted at various locations of the CZV examination organisation throughout Switzerland. It lasts 30 minutes and consists of a conversation about concrete situations in the professional life of employees in passenger and goods transport. Tip: please plan half a day for this exam (excluding travel).

Requirements
Theoretical and practical knowledge of the following topic areas is tested:
- safe, environmentally friendly and energy-saving driving of the vehicle
- vehicle technology and driving behaviour
- transport of people and goods
- responsibility of drivers on the road and in the profession
- correct behaviour in extraordinary situations

Registration:
For the written exam and the e-exams you can register at the road traffic office of your canton of residence. Here you will find a list of the road traffic offices of Switzerland.
For the oral and the practical exams you must first register in the PVS (Examination Management System). After successful registration you can then register for the exam.

If you fail a partial exam, it can be repeated as often as you like.
